Chef Elijah is using his experience in the catering industry to champion a series of community food initiatives supporting vulnerable people. In 2012, he started Chefs for Change Ghana Foundation which arranged for surplus food from the hospitality industry to be used to provide food for people with mental health issues, pensioners and children in need. Elijah later left his job as a head chef to set up Food for All Ghana, West Africa’s first food bank. Since launching in 2015, the organisation has recovered more than $10,000 worth of food products to feed and support almost 5000 beneficiaries across five regions in Ghana. It has also established new and extended existing partnerships with supermarkets, farmers and hotels, and has created a number of community food farms.
